relationships

Relationship issues could be between couples, parents and children, or across generations. They may include family rifts and estrangement, separation or navigating challenges across life. Perhaps you were adopted, have adopted, have the care of your grandchildren, live in a less traditional unit.

the past

Maybe your early years were tough and your whole life has been impacted? Perhaps you just noticed current patterns from the past creeping into the present? You might be fearful of making the same mistakes.

You noticed that you've been hounded by this for a while - lack of confidence, a fear or phobia, feeling angst or dread, having difficulty getting motivated, losing your cool, Developing addictive behaviours? It's in the driving seat and you're not in control.

Ongoing worries

Something happened. It might have been expected or a shock. There was an accident, an illness, a birth, a death -a secret unravelled. Whatever it is - it is very present and you want to think it through.

The Therapy

A systemic approach is essentially about how things work or have worked, between people: how this impacts individuals (what they think of themselves or others) and patterns that develop in relationships.

How does it work?

We would have a chat for half an hour or so (no cost) to see if we think we could work together. If that is a yes -  we would meet online or face to face (in Sheffield). Sessions last 60 to 75 minutes and could be very structured or more free flowing. They might involve listening, talking, enacting something, drawing or even modelling . They won't involve blaming and shaming and everyone should feel safe.I tend to start by meeting people on a weekly basis and then moving to fortnightly, for a few sessions or for longer. Each scenario is unique so how we work is something we would figure out together.

Values

I am dedicated to providing compassionate and effective therapy services to support you on your journey towards healing and growth.

In terms of what I value, being kind is top of the list. I think having an open mind is important and so I work hard at seeing things from everyone's point of view (maybe that's why I'm a family therapist). Being inclusive matters to me so I strive to practise in an anti-discriminatory way.

Julie, Sheffield

I am the adult carer of  young woman who Deb has worked with over a consistent period of time. Originally traumatised and debilitated by an extreme level of abuse in childhood, Deb has provided a safe emotional space for her. Deb's profound empathy, trauma-informed expertise and infinite patience has slowly and gently enabled her to find her voice and build a future defined by her strength rather than by ghosts of the past. I might add that his is a young woman with a learning disability who now has a higher level of self awareness and emotional intelligence than most of us without learning disabilities, a consequence of the exceptionally skilled work of Deb Moore.

Mikey, aged 24

Deb helps me by giving me confident and sound advice that really helps me with my issues. She is very good at listening. This is very much appreciated - always there for me through thick and thin. she is ace.

Kate, Scotland

Deb works on a deep level to get to the root of the matter. She asks intriguing and poignant questions that spark curiosity and an invitation to go deeper. she has a depth of knowledge and experience that she brings to the sessions that enhance and open up dialogue. She brings safety and trust through all her work and has brought insight and strength to my life. I couldn't recommend her highly enough.
